MEET
The Atlanta Classic is a meet for individual high school athletes. All athletes must be eligible according to the National Federation of State
High School Associations and their respective state high school associations. Rules of competition will be USA Track & Field / IAAF. The meet
is sanctioned by USA Track & Field. USATF membership is not required to enter the meet.
UNIFORM
Athletes must dress in a uniform that complies with the USA Track & field rules of competition. NO HIGH SCHOOL UNIFORMS ARE PERMITTED.
TRACK
The George C. Griffin track is 400m with a Mondo surface. There are eight 42” lanes. Use ¼” pin spikes for
all running, and jumping events. LJ, TJ, HJ AND PV approaches are Mondo. Shot and Discus circles are brushed concrete. A
34.92-degree sector will be used in the Shot and Discus.
Distances for approaches:
PV 150’
HJ 80’ (longer on oval if needed)
LJ 240’ (North) / 200’ (South)
TJ 200’ (North) / 160’ (South)
Long and Triple Jump boards are 5’7”...33’6”...42’3” from the sand.
PACKET PICK-UP
Friday, May 29 – Packets will be available 4:00 – 6:00pm at the track.
Saturday, May 30 – Packets will be
available at 9:00am at the main entrance to the track on Fowler Street. Packet will include a meet schedule,
competitor’s number, pins, coaches credential and other assorted items.
TRACK PRACTICE SCHEDULE
The track will be open for practice on Friday, May 29 from 4:00 – 6:00pm.
COMPETITOR’S NUMBER
To be worn by athletes on the front of uniform. Pole vaulters may ware number on the back.
SHOWER & DRESSING FACITLITIES
There are no shower or dressing facilities available at the track.
WARM-UP AREA
All warm-ups will take place on Rose Bowl Field, adjacent to the track on the backstretch side. ABSOLUTELY NO shot or discus throwing in the warm-up area. Warm-up for the throwing events will take place at the event site on the infield of the track. Hurdles and starting blocks will be available in the warm-up area.
CLERKING
The clerking area will be at the NW corner of Rose Bowl Field. Running event athletes are to check in at the clerk’s
tent 30 minutes prior to the start of their event. Running event athletes will be allowed onto the track at the conclusion of
the event prior to theirs. Running event athletes will be given hip numbers to be worn on the RIGHT hip. Field event athletes
will check in with the Head Judge at their event site one hour prior to the start of their event.
IMPLEMENT CERTIFICATION
Saturday, May 30, 8:00am to 9:45am. Implement certification will take place behind the track stands at the single door of the
equipment room. The door will be marked. Implements that do not pass inspection will be available for pick up one hour after
the event conclusion. Athletes may leave their implements for inspection on Friday, May 29.
AWARDS
Medals will be awarded to First, Second and Third place finishers in all events.
Additional awards will be presented for Outstanding Field Performance and Outstanding Track Performance in both Men’s and Women’s competition.
MEDICAL
A medical tent for athletes will be located in the clerking/warm up area. A first aid tent will be located in the spectator area.
ADMISSION
A $10 admission fee will be charged to those without meet credentials.
PARKING
Main parking will be across the street from the track at Alexander Coliseum and O’Keefe lots on Fowler Street.
CONCESSIONS & MEET MERCHANDISE
The concession stand is located behind the home stretch stands on the West end.
A merchandise tent will be located in the spectator area.
MEET PHOTOGRAPHER
Will be on site. All pictures taken during the ATLANTA CLASSIC can be purchased on-line.
